To provide women with educational programming and coaching support, helping them to discover themselves as powerful leaders and role models within their families and communities.
Our organization grew out of the lifelong vision that our Founder Benita Allen had for championing inner city residents in discovering and bringing their individual gifts and talents to the world.
Our "Emerge Program" was successfully piloted in the fall of 2008 serving women from Wilmington, DE & Philadelphia, PA.
In 2009 like many non-profits we experienced funding challenges which temporarily impacted our ability to support the offering and delivery of our 50 hour Core program “Emerge”.
Despite these challenges we were able to provide bi-weekly group coaching sessions to women in transitional housing. Participants reported improved self-esteem and self-awareness, enhanced communication skills and a greater awareness of their impact on others.
We are very pleased with our outcomes and learnings. In 2010, PTW developed and implemented our Life Skills Training program series; Job Preparedness, Basic Financial Management, Communications & Conflict Resolution. This series has supported women in successfully securing and maintaining employment, gaining skills and tools to successfully manage their personal finances, as well as improving their communication and conflict resolution skills.
In 2011 & 2012 we focused on building new partnerships. Adding Serviam Girls Academy and Mom’s House Wilmington as new partners with other new program partnerships being developed. We successfully launched our annual Bowling Fundraiser Event increasing our sponsors, community business donations, and participants. In addition we have added a new life skills training course teaching basic computer skills.
In 2013 and throughout 2014, we continue our focus on growing our volunteer core and expanding our program offerings, building new partnerships and sponsorships.
As we move into tomorrow, we are excited about our future and the opportunities ahead.
