Benita Allen is the Founder & President of Pathways To Wholeness & Benita M. Allen Coaching. Both organizations focus is on providing Individuals the opportunity to break free from limiting belief systems and experiences by recognizing their inner strengths and capabilities. Benita has nurtured a dream for brining this type of programing to others, particularly inner city residents since growing up in some of the toughest neighborhoods of Chicago. Even as a young single mother she aligned her life around helping others. She trained and became a crisis intervention counselor and worked for a suicide prevention hotline. While living in Pueblo Colorado she was instrumental in opening the city’s first battered women’s shelter. Her personal mission statement is to be a Loving, Healing presence that Inspires, and Challenges all in living into their Full Potential. Her demonstration of this in all areas of her life has inspired all who know her.
In 2006, Benita left a 25 year career with the Marriott Corporation to focus her attention on the development of PTW and the Emerge Program. Her broad-based management and leadership experience and climb up the corporate ladder at Marriott, starting as a Loss Prevention Officer and retiring as Director of Human Resources, demonstrates her commitment to achieving her dreams through living the principles that she teaches. Benita was responsible for the development and delivery of training programs at the property level and was invited to participate in delivery at the regional level. For the largest of these, she was member of the team that rolled out Total Quality Management (TQM) to the Northwest Region, delivering content to audiences up to 600 people. She championed Marriott’s Pathways program, a welfare-to-work initiative, at her hotel. Benita served as a member of her hotels’ Executive Committees which were responsible for strategic planning and overall operation of each hotel. Her departmental responsibilities included P&L accountability, day-to-day operations management, and a budget of up to half a million dollars. Throughout her career, Benita received numerous outstanding honors from Marriott including Best Overall HR Services and Best Associate Development. During the time she was Chairperson of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Diversity Council they designed and implemented a mentoring program for managers that was adopted in several regions.
While at Marriott, Benita consistently demonstrated how to validate each person’s dreams and passions. Through relationship building and mentoring, she proved that risk-taking can be encouraged and self confidence built by giving associates the tools they needed to recognize and overcome limiting beliefs. She has an appreciation of the value of each individual and truly values and accepts diversity in everyone.
Benita has completed intermediate training with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and has earned their designation of Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. This extensive program, in both individual coaching and organizational and systems relationship coaching, has taken Benita’s natural life long abilities and has merged them into a process that is easily perceived, appreciated and accepted by all. In addition, she is a graduate of CTI’s year-long international Co-Active Leadership Program. This experiential program develops leaders who know their own impact, create powerful alliances, and have the essential ingredients for designing and delivering effective experiential workshops, training and presentations. Attending this program supported all the ways that Benita reaches out to help others: coaching, inspirational speaking, and the Emerge Program.
